About Greenway Elementary
Hello! Welcome to Greenway Elementary School- Home of the Otters!
Greenway Elementary opened our doors for the first time in June 2025 for summer school and our staff look forward to welcoming our first students for the 2025-26 school year this August! We are one of 22 elementary schools in North Kansas City Schools.
Greenway combines the original Lakewood and Winnwood attendance areas, and was designed with the ripple effect concept in mind: that even the smallest action can have a big impact on our community. Inspired by our natural environment outside, Greenway brings water habitats and green space inside, inspiring collaboration among our students and staff.
Greenway Elementary will serve approximately 490 students grades pre-kindergarten through 5th. Class size averages approximately 22 students. In addition to our core curriculum, we offer art, physical education, computer technology and music. Our fifth-grade students have the opportunity to participate in an additional music program, learning how to play a string instrument.
Our school day starts with our bell ringing at 8:45 a.m., and we end our day at 3:40 p.m.
We have an active PTA and various events scheduled that make for a fun year for our students. We have a strong sense of community and support. At Greenway, we are safe. We are kind. We have integrity. At Greenway, you belong!
